The Church Council met on October 19th. Highlights include:
· Twelve new members have joined Zion, along with the return of the Hodges and Kaufman families.
· An exciting day is planned for Reformation Sunday, with Pastor Summer preaching as Martin Luther and a Reformation Fair being held during the Sunday School hour.
· Committees have been busy with activities:
* Evangelism – Halloween hospitality will take place on 10/31 as we hand out goody bags with information about Zion to all who park in the CEB or walk past the church; buildings will be open for refreshments and bathroom usage.
* Social Ministry – the Suicide Prevention event is scheduled for November 8th.
* The Property Committee has had the CEB great room floor waxed, and a job description for the Sexton position has been updated. Once the weather cools down, the removal of bats/bat droppings will be done.
* Parish Life has a great night planned for Oktoberfest.
* Christian Education reports that the Sunday School students will be creating all the artwork for the Second Sunday Single Service bulletin covers; the Confirmation Class is helping younger students with the skills needed to participate in the Second Sunday Single Service.
· The Council approved a motion from Social Ministry to direct a member bequest to be used for building a new playroom/playground for the new Family Promise location.
· Judy Formalarie attended a program on “Creating Congregational Cultures of Generosity” and has done some follow-up work. There will be another session in November and one in January and she encouraged others to attend.
· The Council approved an additional day of work be added to the Parish Administrator’s schedule for nine weeks in the summer.
· The Council will be researching Sexton options while Rose Hoffman is out on leave.
· Judy Formalarie and Jeff Livingston will research ways that Zion can help with hurricane relief in the ELCA Caribbean Synod.

* All volunteers filling in for Rose Hoffman.
The next meeting of the Church Council will be on November 16th. Meetings are open for all to attend.
